Chapter 7

Melron lay on a large white, canoe-shaped bed, an arched electronic arm moving over him from head to foot, emitting a low humming and a green laser light. He was talking with Solron, who looked across at her as she approached.

Melron turned his head. Tara saw his skin was no longer pale but a looking a healthy deep tan once again.

Solron’s nimble fingers tapped and pressed a clear glass panel; the humming and laser arm stopped and the panel that had been scanning Melron retracted. Solron helped him sit up.

“Take it slow, Fe-Commander. Your side may be healed, but you will be weak for a few days,” Solron warned Melron. “He is all yours now.” Solron smiled at her before making a swift and silent exit.

“Come here, my pretty.” Melron swung his legs over the bed, his dark gaze fixed on her.

The relief flooding her was overwhelming; the whole turmoil of thinking he was going to die crashed in around her. She flung herself into his arms, unable to stop the tears from falling down her cheeks.

His arms tightened around her holding her against him as she sobbed into his chest, gently stroking her hair. “Hush, my love, it is all right. You see I am fine.”

“Y-you could have been killed!” she managed to gulp out trying to calm herself. It wasn’t like her to have uncharacteristic displays of blubbering emotions. Melron had made her feel so damn much in such a short time, it was hard to control.

“It will take a lot more than a pinprick for me to meet my ancestors, my Corami.” He chuckled huskily into her ear.

“Damn it, Melron, it’s not funny, don’t you ever scare me like that again!” She jerked back to swipe the tears with the back of her hand.

He caught her hands to still them, before sliding his large hands up her arms, over her shoulders and neck to cup her face between his palms, pulling her face forward.

Tara’s breath hitched in her throat as he gently kissed away her tears. She fell more deeply in love with him in that moment; his tender soothing action melted her heart completely.

“I love you, Melron, I love you so much,” she blurted out, unable to contain it any longer.

His smile was one of pure sin. “I know, my Corami, and you may tell me often.”

She jerked back, rolling her eyes at his cocky arrogance. “Why you big¼”

He claimed her mouth in a punishing kiss, thrusting his tongue deep into her mouth with a possessiveness that took her breath away. She melted against him. Whatever she had in mind to say flew completely out of the window of her thoughts. The searing heat and feel of him was enough to render her senseless.

He broke the kiss with a low growl. She sucked in a deep breath, trying to regain a part of her lost sanity; nope, it was useless. She lost her brains along with her heart to him.

“Solron told me what you did.”
